Everyone’s been getting creative with Halloween costumes for themselves, but this year, I let my creativity shine within a different wardrobe – my dog’s.
Meet Lucy: she is my sweet, little Swedish Lapphund, who when I first rescued her, hating being dressed. She soon realized the affection and attention she’d receive from donning doggie duds was worth the shame and humiliation. She never thought her mom would write a blog, however 🙂
Though some of Lucy’s items are made for dogs, some of them are made for babies! It’s true: infant and small toddler sized items fit medium-sized dogs just fine. So, it’s easy to reuse and recycle looks from the thrift store or on the clearance rack at Carter’s if you can’t find just what your’e looking for at Petsmart. I’ve gotten my hands on some of the most adorable hand-knit sweaters and hilarious graphic tees at the Goodwill or Salvation Army that suit Lucy’s personality and body type just right.
You’ll notice quite a few pieces below used to be mine when I was a child – a new definition of the term “hand-me-down.”
Have a very Happy Halloween, and many more treats than tricks to all those oh-so-tolerant pups out there wearing some kind of ridiculous get-up. We, the dog owners who simply can’t resist, thank you!
